Durban 2: The festival of shame and racism – by Ben-Dror Yemini
Iran has insisted and won. Its representative will be the vice-president of the Durban 2 conference. And in order to eliminate any doubt regarding the direction, the Libyan delegate will preside over the "central committee" of the conference.
Welcome to the new world. A world in which the combat against the racism is represented by the delegates of Iran and of Libya. It must be stipulated that Syria has also clarified at the last minute that it will donate money for the financing of the conference. It is true that the contribution of Syria and of its friends to racism, to obscurantism and to women oppression as well as to crimes against the human rights is impressive but this is not important. The principal is that Syria donates money to the conference.
The problem is not about Iran, Libya or Syria. Those countries enjoy an automatic majority in any UN forum. The problem is with the free world nations. Not all, but most of them, cooperate. It is forbidden to offend those obscur countries, since they once were "victims of colonialism". So that they are allowed to anything, since any comment against them will be immediately considered as patronizing and racism.
The free world must say: indeed, during colonialism and imperialism, crimes against humanity have been perpetrated, this is not right. But this confers no right to anyone to perpetrate those crimes now-a-days.
The offenses of the obscur nations
The most dominant organization of the previous conference, held in Durban in 2001, is the Organization of the Islamic Countries (OIC). This is the body that was behind the campaign of incitation that turned this conference to an anti-Zionist and antisemitic conference. This body continues to be dominant even today. Its impact has just grown stronger. Thus, for instance, this organization attempts to change and repair the important international conventions, such as the declaration of the whole world concerning the human rights that was passed in the United Nations in 1948.
The conference of the Islamic countries, held in Cairo in 1990, took a parallel decision: "The Declaration of the Human Rights in Islam", that subdues the human rights to the Sharia's laws.
Since then and up to today, bodies and countries try to dictate the decisions of the Cairo's convention to international bodies. This is a dangerous process. Even important Muslim jurists such as the Senegal Adama Diang, believe that this process might destroy the human rights as we have known them until now.
This too has succeeded. In important international forums as the Committee of the Human Rights of the United-Nations, that was created in order to overcome the harms of the obscur countries impact, theses nations have turned to be very influential; this is the committee that is also responsible for the conference that will be inaugurated tomorrow.
Between the somnambulist left and obscur Islam
Many important countries have decided to boycott the conference. Many others still hesitate. One foot here and one foot there. Thus, for instance, France has not decided, by the meantime, to boycott the conference. However, the French Foreign States Minister, Bernard Kushner, is supposed to participate today to the alternative conference for the human rights with more opponents to the regime of the obscur countries.
Even if the decisions of the planning committee – such as anti-Israeli articles, are cancelled, the direction is quite clear. It indicates the coalition between a somnambulist left and an obscur Islam. This is the coalition of the admirers of the wonderful couple, Hugo Chavez and Ahmedinijjad, great democrats. This is their summit.
The tragedy is that instead of having the free world influencing the obscurantism, the process is inversed. Tomorrow, in Geneva, an additional landmark in this dangerous influence will be indicated.
