USA - Jewish cemetery struck by vandals
The Rosemont Park Jewish Cemetery was ransacked on May 13 2007. A swastika was etched on a mausoleum and several headstones and urns were destroyed.
The damage was discovered by a groundskeeper at the cemetery.
"The groundskeeper discovered numerous headstones overturned and damaged," said Police Officer John Mirabelli. "The groundskeeper also discovered damage to several urns and the remains were scattered about the cemetery."
A swastika was also etched on a mausoleum at the front entrance, Mirabelli said. Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime and did not have a description of the offender or offenders on Tuesday evening.
