Portugal– Desecration of the Jewish Cemetery in Lisbon
On 26th September 2007, the Jewish cemetery in Lisbon was broken into and 12 gravestones were sprayed with antisemitic epithets and swastikas. In addition, a fresh grave with no gravestone on it as yet, was defiled. The incident took place about 22:00 hours when two young skinhead thugs broke into the cemetery. They were apprehended by the police who were alerted by a cemetery guard who saw the delinquents defiling the graves.
