Hungary- Fidesz dismisses anti-Semitic councilor from party

Main right-of-centre opposition Fidesz dismissed a local government representative from the party's ranks for making anti-Semitic remarks on the internet. Online news portal Hirszerzo on Thursday revealed some of the internet forum comments of Gabriella Cs. Kovacs, who chairs the regional development and environment committee of the local council of Leanyfalu (20 km north of Budapest), in Fidesz's ranks. Cs. Kovacs had admitted she was behind the handle which was used in several forums to make anti-Semitic comments. Another Fidesz member resigned from the party on Wednesday after being found among those responsible for putting up a mock-up photo depicting a openly gay member of the government outside the gates of a Nazi death camp wearing a pink triangle.
